When we're doing peer editing conferences, it's important to know what we're looking for so we can give our partners specific and meaningful feedback. Here is our brainstorm about our responsibilities as a peer-editor.
A major component of our 5th grade writing curriculum is editing and revising our work. We do this thru self-edits, teacher conferences, and peer revision processes. Today, we spent time listening to our peers give feedback based on the following guiding questions.
We are focused on forming educated opinions in ELA currently. Our essential understanding is that in order to be informed about anything, we must gather information from multiple sources representing multiple opinions. Today, students participated in structured group conversations where they focused on acknowledging the speaker as well as elaborating on ideas of group members. They're getting pretty good at coming to conversations with both an educated opinion AND an open mind.
